Lyrics

Another day begins, losing time in the kitchen with the kettle on.
Soon I’m standing at the fridge, speaking words to the abyss:
“I don’t know what I’m doing.”
When you walk in the room, I’m just sitting in the gloom while the coffee brews.
Where is my head, Colleen?
Where is my head, Colleen?

I pull the sugar off the shelf, grab the cream and set it down on the countertop.
Pour the coffee in our mugs, and then I turn around to watch the pigeons fighting over breadcrumbs.
Put the cream and sugar back before realizing that my coffee’s still black.
Where is my head, Colleen?
Where is my head, Colleen?

I head to work under the ground, but I can’t focus through my doubt this will all work out.
So I give up and head home. But when I walk in, I just groan, ‘Not again,’ and put on my coat.
Grab my keys off of the hook. I left the light on in the nook under the stairs at work.
Where is my head, Colleen?
Where is my head?

I don’t know how to tell you what I’m thinking, Colleen.
There’s so much you don’t know, and I don’t know how to explain the mess I’m in in any way that will make sense.

The days are stacking into months and I can’t shake the hunch that you’re fed up.
So I stay out way too late and tell you I just need the space cuz I don’t want to rain on your parade
When I have nothing to give. Just a broken heart and this unanswered question:
Where is my head, Colleen?
Where is my head?
